• Step 1: Consultation Call

    In your journey to find your way here, you probably searched through hundreds of Psychology Today pages, Googled “therapist near me,” and read bio after bio asking yourself, what do they mean they’re going to help me “find my purpose?” It can be daunting and honestly exhausting trying to decipher all the therapy language to see if the person is the right fit for you. And it’s true, not every therapist is a good fit for every person! That’s partially what the consultation call aims to find out. Now, we might not be able to figure everything out in a single 15 minute phone call, but we can discuss what you hope to get out of therapy and how I might assist you in this. I can share more about my own style and answer any of the questions that you might have. If you know right away for whatever reason that we might not be a good fit, I will help guide you in the direction of other providers if you wish!

  • Step 2: Logistics

    If we decide to proceed after the consultation call, I will set up a profile for you on Headway using an email that you provide. From there, you will complete some basic paperwork, including practice policies, informed consent and basic assessments that will help me gauge your needs. You will also input your insurance information on this portal, and Headway will provide you with an estimated copay for our sessions. I will then be able to schedule our first session!

  • Step 3: Initial Session

    Now for the fun part! The first session may bring about a lot of nerves and that’s okay! I aim to make therapy as conversational as possible, but the first session will usually consist of more directed questions from me so I can get to know you a bit better. The only “agenda” for the first session is to create a comfortable, relaxed space that promotes safety and authenticity. I usually recommend 4 sessions over 4 weeks to start our time together, to get a good feel for the pacing of therapy and whether or not we will be a good fit for each other. However, if you know after the first session that my style doesn’t work for you, please don’t suffer through 3 more grueling hours! My aim is to help you get where you want to go, whether it is me by your side or someone else.
